Your rights and our obligations are contained within legislation such as the General Data Protection Regulation (‘GDPR’) and the related revised Federal Act on Data Protection (‘FADP’) in Switzerland. This privacy notice covers all personal data for which SecureBio is the data controller within the meaning of this legislation. SecureBio does not act as a data processor for any other data controller. By visiting our website, contacting us, or using our services, you confirm that you understand and accept the contents of this privacy notice.

SecureBio reserves the right to modify this notice. If and when this notice is modified, the ‘Last modified’ date and time on this page will also change to reflect it. Any changes will be posted immediately on this document. You are responsible for reviewing this notice periodically to ensure that you are aware of any changes to it.

What personal data does SecureBio process?

Communications & contact details

We may process the following personal information related to communications:

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Communications you send, such as the body content of an email or your CV
  • Metadata, such as the time you sent an email

We may do so for the following reasons:

  • To reply to communications we receive from you

  • To assist in hiring processes for SecureBio-related roles

  • To contact relevant stakeholders for the purpose of collaborating

  • To fulfill our commitments to you as a partner in the implementation of our services and provision of support

  • To keep a record of communications with, and publicly available details of, relevant stakeholders

Analytics and security data from visiting our website

If you visit securebio.org, we will store your IP address and related data (e.g. browser, browser language) automatically in our server logs. This is used for security purposes, to detect, prevent and combat harmful or illegal behavior.

The SecureBio website uses cookies to analyze how visitors use our website.  In particular, we use a third-party analytics platform (i.e. Google Analytics).  No data will be sent to GA without the user’s consent of the cookie disclaimer.

Legal basis of processing

We process data for legitimate interests. Specifically, SecureBio has legitimate interests in (a) securing our website and (b) communicating with relevant stakeholders – such as collaborators and job candidates –  to facilitate collaboration and answer queries.

Data processors

As is standard practice, we use third party data processors (e.g. email service providers and Airtable), which process personal data on our behalf and for specific, agreed purposes. They may transfer your personal data outside of the EU, but only in accordance with appropriate safeguards. How long does SecureBio retain my personal data?

We do not store your data for longer than we need to. Depending on what the data is to be used for, we store it for different lengths of time. Some data is not stored at all, while other data is stored due to requirements from other regulations, which then require us to store the information for an extended period of several years. 

What rights do I have? How can I make a query or complaint?

Under data protection law, you have rights, including:

  • Your right of access: you have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.

  • Your right to rectification: you have the right to ask us to rectify information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.
